Yes, it heats up at peak load. this is completely normal. I added an external fan. the computer is completely quiet. I have never heard it even with the extra fan. AMD processor is much better than Intel for home use.

Seller communication 5 stars. He has tremendous disposition to help, to give advice on the many variations available. Shipment was correct, Packing was excellent. I am configuring the minipc and installing the software. I purchased it with the i5 10400 cpu, 32 gb Ram, 512 gb ssd. It is much faster than my notebook (i7-8550u 12 gb ram 500 gb hd) The minipc came with an additional video port (DP) which was not in the specifications at purchase time. The mini pc is silent. It just makes a short noise at startup. Heath is not a problem at all. It does not produce almost any heat. I have not tried overclocking, just used it as it came. Overall, very happy with the purchase. Only advice to the seller is to widen the CPU options, including higher end Ryzen CPUs if possible. Buy with confidence. Dollar per unit of power, the offering and service of the seller is excellent.
